Back lose Highland Amateur Cup final       20/8/11

Back FC have lost the Highland Amateur Cup final with a 5 - 1 score for Avoch today.

A goal rush for the mainlanders  in the last 25 minutes denied any fight-back for Back.

It looked much different at the lunchtime kick-off at the Inverness Caledonian stadium when the game launched with a very promising start for the Lewis-based team.

Within four minutes Martin Maclean slammed a low shot past past Avoch keeper Neil Mackay.

Paul Brindle soon equalised for the mainland side.  Back pretty much held their own in the first 45 minutes with a 1 -1 score at half time.

But it went downhill in the second half with the Leodhasaich never really managing to break past their dominant rivals.

Former Celtic player Charlie Christie pushed Avoch into the lead some 20 minutes after the restart. It was immediately followed by another from Paul Brindle.

Shaun Kerr then grabbed a chance from a sluggish Back side to pop in a fourth goal.

Just when they thought it was all over, a header by Gary Urqhuart during extra time ended the game 5-1 for Avoch.

Man of the Match was Paul Brindle who scored twice in his last game for Avoch. He will be turning out for Clach in the Highland League over the coming winter.
