Two fishermen are receiving treatment for severe injuries following an accident onboard a Spanish trawler off Lewis.
The alarm was raised shortly before 4.30am.
Stornoway coastguard helicopter later winched both individuals off the fishing vessel 110 miles west off the Butt of the Lewis this morning (Wednesday).
The aircraft landed on the helipad at Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway where members of Stornoway coastguard rescue team assisted in transferring the casualties off the helicopter.
Both have sustained leg injuries it is understood.
Over the day the Scottish Air Ambulance service operated two ambulance planes to collect medical personnel from different destinations, flying them to Stornoway in support of the patient’s treatment.
Medical support personnel from Glasgow and Aberdeen arrived in Stornoway during the day.
This evening (Wednesday) the casualties were flown by separate ambulance planes to a mainland hospital, believed to be Raigmore in Inverness.
A NHS Western Isles spokeswoman said: “Both individuals were transferred to the mainland.
