Stopping his vehicle within the ziz-zag lines of a pedestrian crossing landed a motorist in court.

Matthew Tate of 2 Cnoc a Runaire, North Tolsta, Lewis, admitted stopping in the controlled area of the crossing on Cromwell Street, Stornoway, in November.

The 24-year-old also accepted he was speeding at 70mph in a 40mph zone at the Newmarket Road, outside Stornoway, last May.

Tate was fined a total of £500 with three points imposed on his licence. He has lost his licence for six months.
