Creationist speaker in young earth talks          3/4/14

An international speaker who believes a literal understanding of the Bible gives a more scientifically accurate account of origins than the standard evolutionary model is due in the islands this weekend.

Philip Bell, a Zoology graduate, worked as a research scientist and a science teacher before taking up full time work with Creation Ministries International.

While engaged in biology and geology studies that he rejected the evolution view of the world on both scientific and biblical grounds.

He is convinced that many spurn the Bible and Christianity or compromise their faith due to being brainwashed by the media and scientific establishment.

To him, the secular materialistic view of the universe is a faith based view, and the scientific establishment’s commitment to it is not for any genuinely scientific reasons.

Philip Bell - who says true science is more compatible with a Biblical framework of a recent creation and Noah’s flood - will give an illustrated lecture on Creation and Evolution - What’s it all about? This Friday  April at 7.30pm in the main hall in the Nicolson Institute.

He will speak on Back to the Beginning - Genesis and Modern Science on Saturday at 2.30pm in the Free Church (Continuing), Sandwick Road, Stornoway, and at 7.30pm in Lionel School, Ness, at 7.30pm. He will also speak on Sunday at 8.30pm in the Church Hall, Scalpay.

In addition, there will also be a meeting for children and young folk in the Free Church (Continuing), Stornoway, on Saturday from 10.30am to 11.30am.

A local organiser said: “The arrival of Philip Bell could not be more timely as this weekend also sees the launch of the blockbuster film Noah. Sadly it makes no attempt to portray the Biblical account of the Genesis flood.

“Indeed, its director recently described it in the press as “probably the most unbiblical film made.” It is hoped that these talks may help to set the record straight

“Along with the usual bookstall with relevant literature, Mr Bell will have with him a six foot long scale model of Noah’s Ark.”

He added: “The meetings have been arranged with the support of ministers from the various churches on the islands and all are most welcome to come, listen, question and learn.”
