Yes Campaign set up shop                  16/7/14

The Yes Campaign in the Western Isles has officially open a campaign base in Stornoway.

The office was formally opened by Norrie ‘Tago’ MacIver, a native of Carloway and lead singer of folk group Manran.

Alasdair Allan MSP said the move represented  the Yes campaign “stepping up a further gear in the islands.”

He added: “The campaign for a Yes vote already involves people who have never been involved in political campaigning before, and having a campaign base will allow us an even more visible presence in the islands.

“The campaign base was funded by a recent online appeal, which is still ongoing, using the pioneering crowdfundraising methods on Indiegogo, and met its target several weeks before the deadline thanks to the generosity of members of the public from across Scotland.

“I hope that people will drop in, whether to get information about the campaign and the benefits that independence will bring for them, or just to stop by for a cup of tea.”
