Wintry gale for Western Isles 11/2/14
A gale with wintry showers is due to affect the Western Isles on Tuesday warns the
Met office.
It will bring a band of rain, sleet and snow on Tuesday morning, say forecasters.
Most of the snow will be on high ground but there is also a risk of some wet snow
or slush on low levels which may create difficult driving conditions.
Showers will turn increasingly to snow on Tuesday and will continue into Wednesday
morning. On low ground, lying snow will tend to melt between showers by day but
may settle on Tuesday evening.
Roads and pavements are likely to be icy from the afternoon onwards.
The MV Lord of the Isles’ run to Castlebay and Lochboisdale may be disrupted due
to expected rough seas warns Cal Mac.
Unsettled weather is then expected for the rest of the week, with further storms
due to track across the UK on Wednesday and again towards the weekend.
