There is a high risk of moorland fires in the next few days.

A spell of dry, warmer weather up to the weekend could create conditions for wildfires, says the fire service.

Apart from intervals on Saturday, little rain is expected until Monday.

People in the Western Isles are urged to be ‘extra careful’ in areas of heather and grassland.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) asks people not to carelessly dispose of smoking materials, ensure BBQs are properly extinguished and try to avoid setting campfires.

People are asked to call 999 if they see what they believe to be a wildfire with no obvious signs of people managing it.
