Senior police officers are supporting the White Ribbon campaign, a worldwide movement of men working to end violence against women.
Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent
about violence against women.
Inspector Ewan Henderson who has recently received
training as a White Ribbon speaker said: "Police Scotland Highlands and Islands Division
is delighted to support the White Ribbon campaign in addition to the many other organisations
against domestic violence, such as Women's Aid groups that assist communities throughout
the region.
"Pledging support for the White Ribbon campaign means in addition to never committing or condoning violence against women we must also not ignore it.
“We would therefore use this opportunity to urge anyone with concerns about a male
or female family member, friend or neighbour who may be experiencing violence to
contact police or Women's Aid and Mankind helplines."
