Sir,

The number of foreign tourists visiting the Western Isles has grown over the last decade. If the UK decides to leave the EU, the controls promised by the Brexit leaders will result in a significant drop  in the numbers, severely damaging our tourist industry. The visa requirements and paper shuffling will deter these visitors.

Industry in the Western Isles benefits enormously from the EU single market. The EU market place is critical to the Harris Tweed, Arnish fabrication yard, Shellfish, Bakers, Black Puddings  etc. Exiting the EU will not stop these exports being shipped to Europe. What is likely to happen is that trade tariffs will be applied making the products uncompetitive.

The bulk of our human rights and employment legislation come from the EU. Brexit leaders have already said the employment legislation needs to be tightened. They have spoken approvingly about the prospect of people being sacked without reason regardless of service if we leave the EU. Does this mean the end of redundancy payments?

Are these extreme right wing Tories the people we want to define our human rights ?  I don't think so. To date the Brexit leaders have failed to publish their vision for the UK outwith the EU. Make no mistake, they have one and are reluctant to tell us because it would destroy Brexit.
