Hebrides News

A survey of sharks and whales is being undertaken off Uist and Barra.

Work has recently been commissioned by SNH to undertake a series of ultra-high resolution digital video surveys in the Southern Minch and down to Mull, known as the Sea of the Hebrides.

The area - a hotspot for basking sharks and minke whales - is proposed proposed to be officially designated as a marine protected area.

The surveys have been specially designed to provide detailed information on the large marine wildlife in the seas.
