Political blunder scores own goal                           8/4/10

Despite having the last 12 months to suss out their election campaign some of  local political groupings have scored visible own goals while covering the islands in a blaze of party colours.

Signs advertising the various sides in the General Election battle have been popping up since Tuesday night after Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced May 6th as polling day.

Hebrides News reader Donald Macleod sent in these photos of political blunders he snapped around Stornoway and has posted on his Flicker website.

Is the daft  positioning of  the party adverts some comment on their chances at the ballot box?

On Jean Davis’s team, Mr Macleod says the No Entry command, “sums up the Lib Dem's chances of getting elected in the Western Isles. They have no chance of entry to parliament from here.”

He wonders if the Out direction is “an omen for the Labour Party, who are currently in government?”

Mr Macleod took the photos at Stornoway’s South Beach car park - we wonder which party is the first to take theirs down.
