Travel disrupted as adverse weather hits Hebrides 28/12/11
All ferries to the Western Isles have been cancelled and flights disrupted due to the storm battering the islands.
A whole host of bus services were cancelled or suspended as fierce winds reached their peak.
It affected most of the teatime services from Stornoway including the Harris bus, was cancelled with the 4pm departure being the last run.
Point, Back, North Lochs and Ness buses and evening rural services were due back on the road after the worst of the storm passes.
All Barra flights were cancelled. Afternoon planes from Glasgow and Lewis to Benbecula never took off. The Aberdeen to Stornoway plane was also put off.
The Braighe causeway at Point, Lewis, was shut for about two hours as strong south westerly winds threw waves and spray across the roadway.
Some council services closed early including Stornoway library and coffee shop, Bennadrove landfill tip and the Creed recycling centre.
