Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is undertaking surface dressing works on roads throughout the Western Isles from next week.

Works are planned to commence in Tong village followed by Parkend and the Bràghe Road area, Cameron Terrace, Tarbert to Scalpay, A859 Seilebost and Rhenigidale.

The plan is to undertake similar works in Uist and Benbecula on 3rd June for two weeks.

Where required, there will be diversions, traffic convoy and stop-go traffic control in operation which will lead to some delays.

During the works there will be signage and a 20 mph temporary speed limit in effect, until sweeping and aftercare has been completed.

Motorists are asked to obey the signage and take care whilst travelling through the works.

Residents in these areas are asked to consider children and pets during the laying period and not to park any vehicles adjacent to the road.

Pedestrians, cyclists and motor cyclists should take care whilst passing the laying equipment . Residents will also be required to move parked cars to enable laying works to be completed. All the works are dry weather dependant and may be postponed as necessary.

In addition, road surface pre-patching works are expected to commence in Barra later this summer.
