An error in the NatWest Island Games official results suggests the Western Isles won only 18 medals - one less than the correct figure.

Any tally stretching into double figures would have been been a great achievement for the Hebridean squad up against competitors from 23 other islands in Jersey.

However, the islanders' runaway success clocked up 19 prizes.

But the results mechanism fails to record the full total.

Missed out is Donald Walker's bronze medal on the shooting range - the first time the Western Isles picked up a prize at this discipline at the Island Games.

Walker lost silver by just one point for the automatic ball trap event. He was placed third equal with Christopher Jackson of the Cayman Islands.

However, the Jersey games results system apparently cannot cope with allocating medals to joint winners.

Donald Walker also lost on on taking his place on the podium as only one bronze medal was available at the ceremony.

However, the prize was handed to him prior to the island contingent flying home on Saturday evening.

The Western Isles clinched seven gold medals over the event in addition to six silver and the same number of bronze medals.
