Gale warning for Western Isles 7/2/12
Force 9 winds will affect the Western Isles overnight. Uist and Barra will receive the strongest blast from the southerly winds with gusts over 50 mph at times.
While freezing weather will affect the rest of the country, the Hebrides will have wind and rain continuing on Wednesday morning though conditions should start to ease after lunchtime. The Minch will experience rough seas.
Ferry sailings may be disrupted. The MV Lord of the Isles’s voyage to South Uist and Barra was cancelled today (Tues) as has Wednesday’s return service to Oban. The next sailings will be on Thursday.
The Stornoway freight ferry Muirneag will remain in harbour due to the conditions.
