A coastal flood alert has been issued for the Western Isles.

It warns islanders to beware of very high waves which are expected to affect the islands from Tuesday morning.

The SEPA warning adds: “Exposed coastal areas including roads, causeways and low lying properties may be at risk from flooding due to wave overtopping particularly during periods of high tide.”

Police and the local council will be monitoring exposed Uist causeways.

The Bràighe in Point, Lewis, will also be monitored.
