Hebrides News

Violent winds and heavy seas in the Minch has cancelled all Western Isles ferry services this morning.

Barra and South Uist will not have a ferry service today as the storm is worse in these sea areas.

The MV Lord of the Isles is due to sail tomorrow afternoon.

Cal Mac suggested passengers could use an alternative route. However, there is none as the Sound of Barra service is also cancelled. In any case, the mainland ferry link to Uist is also suspended.

The MV Hebrides is presently weather-bound in Tarbert and will stay there until conditions abate. Weather permitting, she plans to sail to Uig at 4pm and onward to Lochmaddy where she will remain overnight. There will be no inward sailing from Skye to Tarbert nor out of North Uist to the mainland  today.

All sailings between Stornoway and Ullapool are cancelled today.
