This month has seen a 33% spike in the number of local Covid cases compared to the same period in September.
Some 164 positive results have been recorded in the Western Isles so far in October said Gordon Jamieson, health board chief executive.
The first 20 days last month had 123 infections.
“We are seeing a steady and increasing number of new positives,” he said.
“Locally, compared to a year ago, Covid hospital admissions are significantly lower, but nationally, across the UK, Covid-related hospital admission number is rising.”
15 cases were identified in the islands on Wednesday.
Twelve are on Lewis with at least eight connected to known positive cases
North Uist, South Uist and Barra each reported a single confirmed case.
