The annual Western Isles Bible Conference is taking place this weekend.

The first event is hosted by the Stornoway Congregation of the Free Church (Continuing).

This year’s speaker is Rev. Arthur Bentley-Taylor. Born in China to missionary parents who served there until the expulsion of missionaries in 1949, he returned to England where he came to faith early in his youth.

After school, his studies led him into teaching and for 20 years he was headmaster of the independent Westbourne School, Penarth, in South Wales.

During these years he was a preaching elder of a Presbyterian Church in Cardiff. In 1994 he retired from teaching to become the minister of Emmanuel Church, Workington, where he pastored for 16 years.

He now lives in St Albans, where he is an elder of Spicer Street Church.

He also lectures in New Testament Greek at the London Theological Seminary in North London.

Although having ministers in a variety of denominations over the years, Mr Bentley-Taylor is by conviction a Westminster Presbyterian and delights in declaring the gospel of sovereign free grace.

In all Mr Bentley-Taylor will give five addresses, based on the theme
of Aspects of Heaven.

Friday evening (7.30pm) is given over to Prayer and Heaven.

Saturday (2pm & 6.30pm) will be on themes Jesus and Heaven.

Finally on the Sabbath (11am & 6.30pm) the themes are Jesus Ascending into Heaven and Escaping Hell for Heaven.

There will be a time for tea and fellowship between the addresses on Saturday.

A warm welcome awaits all.
