A £14,000 award from the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund will be used for essential building work to Tong Hall in Lewis.
The funding is part of ongoing plans to renovate and develop the premises which hosts regular gatherings of the local toddler group, youth club and seniors citizen’s club.
Hall chair Kenny Macphail said: “For decades the hall has provided support for the village and we are delighted to be working to ensure the hall will continue to host youth club, support the local school and, in the future, develop new opportunities for everyone in Tong and the surrounding areas.”
The hall will also be included in Tesco’s forthcoming ‘Bags for Help’ campaign. If successful the funding will renovate new areas of the hall and purchase new film equipment, PA system and computer.
