An islander who was banned from entering the village of Tong on Lewis promptly broke the order within hours.

Neil Roderick Macinnes received 70 hours of community service after admitting a breach of bail by breaking the ban when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Friday.

Macinnes whose address was given as Keith Street, Stornoway, originally appeared the previous day, when he pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening behaviour at a house within Tong and possessing cannabis.

Trail was set for April and he was released on bail provided he did not go near the village. He broke that ban the same day.
