To celebrate the end of their 150 anniversary year, Stornoway Port Authority is bringing the Vikings to Stornoway accompanied by Santa Claus.

Vikings set to invade Stornoway at Christmas

The Shetland Vikings were a big hit during their 2014 Stornoway visit

The Stornoway Christmas light switch-on ceremony will be changed to Friday 11th December for the visitors to join the festive party.

 

Fire-wielding Vikings from Shetland will arrive on Cromwell Street Quay in the evening.

 

Pipe bands and 40 torch bearers will escort the Vikings and Santa entourage to the lights' event in Perceval Square.

 

Alex Macleod, chief executive of Stornoway Port Authority, said: “We are delighted to be working with Stornoway Amenity Trust and ending our 150 anniversary year with such a fantastic event.”

 

Charlie Nicolson, chair of lights' organisers, Stornoway Amenity Trust, said: “We are delighted with the plans for this year’s event which promises to be an evening to remember for all the family."
