Verbal gymnastics over NHS 14/9/14
Sirs,
It is a fact that the SNP intend to reduce the budget for the NHS by 1.2 % in Scotland
in the coming year. The budget in the rest of the UK will increase by 4.4% over the
same period. The Institute for Fiscal Studies has nailed the SNP lie about the NHS.
There is no threat from the UK government. The threat comes from within.
The NHS in
Scotland is the most tightly controlled of all budgets since it is directly controlled
by the Minister and the Scottish Government Health Department. No amount of verbal
gymnastics by the SNP can change the facts. Now, of course, they are so tied up in
their lie that their every utterance on health compounds the felony.
I want the governance
of the NHS to be in the hands of the Scottish people. That is where it currently
is. But I want those in charge to care about the health service and not about separating
Scotland from the positive influence of the rest of the UK.
Had the SNP run its campaign
with a modicum of honesty, it might at least have garnered respect. Now regrettably
there credibility is shot to pieces. I will be voting for more powers for the Scottish
Parliament to be agreed by the end of January 2015. Sounds good to me.
