Van taken without consent

A 25-year-old took a van without the owner's consent man on Thursday has appeared in court.

Don Alexander Munro admitted taking the vehicle from Allt na Broige, Marybank, by Stornoway.

Munro of the Acres Hostel, Island Road, Stornoway, also pleaded guilty to refusing to give a breathalyser test at Stornoway police station.

Sheriff David Sutherland called for background reports and deferred sentencing until September.

Munro received an interim driving ban and was allowed bail.
