Uist council by-election

A council by-election for the Benbecula and North Uist ward is to be held next month.

Nominations for the role of councillor are now open with an election scheduled to be held on Thursday 26 March.

The seat became vacant after Archie Campbell stood down.

The former teacher was first elected to the Comhairle in 1999, representing the Paible ward.

He was the chairman of the development committee since 2003.
