A persistent offender has been sentenced to jail after two incidents of threatening behaviour.

David Macleay also pleaded guilty to breaching bail by not obeying a curfew to stay within his bail address at Ballantrushal on the west side of Lewis.

The 27-year-old received a six month prison term when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

The court heard Macleay entered a house at Leurbost, Lochs, Lewis, uninvited on 14 December.

He threw a tumble dryer into the garden and also pulled a light socket from the ceiling.

His partner was trying to phone the police but he pulled the mobile phone from her and flung it to the floor.

Various household items were damaged after he also threw them about.

Macleay shouted and swore at his partner and a man in the house, lashing out at the male.

Later, he directed verbal abuse at police officers and made racial remarks to one of them.

Following a court appearance a week later, police went to check up on him and discovered he was not at home thus breaching a 7pm to 7am bail curfew.
