Islander jailed over train assault               5/9/14

A Stornoway man has been jailed after a drunken disturbance on a train.

Angus Macmillan assaulted a man who told him to leave two teenage girls alone.

Macmillan of 38 Sprinfield Road, Stornoway, pestered the females on a rail journey from Highlands to the central belt on the evening of 28 February.

Perth Sheriff Court heard that a 58-year-old passenger asked him to leave them alone but Macmllan lapped the man on the head.

He also punched him on the head and body.

Police officers were waiting for Macmillan at Perth Railway Station but he started shouting, swearing and made verbal threats.

Sheriff MJ Fletcher sentenced him to jail for four months.
