A group of Uist and Benbecula ladies have raised nearly £11,000 from staging a tractor run from one end of Uist to the other.
Seventeen gleaming workhorses and their drivers set off from Eriskay, trundling their way north over roads and causeways to the ferry terminal in Berneray.
The intrepid group are fundraising for the Western Isles Cancer Care Initiative which support people throughout the Western Isles affected by cancer.
The aim is to raise enough cash to fund access to two massage therapists on Uist and Benbecula for cancer sufferers.
Many tractors were transported down to the start line on Friday evening, ready for a 9am send off the following morning.
Fuelled up by breakfast rolls provide by Orasay Inn the procession headed off, detouring in Benbecula to take in Linaclete and Balivanich while also going round the west side of North Uist.
Pitstops along the route saw the ladies and their support team being welcomed with complimentary tea and biscuits at the Borrodale Hotel and Clachan Church hall. A sit down lunch was laid on by the Dark Island Hotel while, at journey’s end, the Berneray community provided a meal in the local hall.
Lot of people turned out to give them a wave and put money in collecting buckets along their journey while many local businesses generously donated to the cause.
