A sheriff has ordered the arrest of a tourist who smeared excrement in two Stornoway accommodation premises.

Rosemary Kirkham failed to appear at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Friday for sentencing.

The 50-year-old previously pleaded guilty to defecating in her bed at a guest house in Stornoway, and also smearing the excrement over the bed in July 2013.

She had also admitted a similar charge at hotel within Stornoway town centre.

Kirkham, of 6 Turnworth Court, Exeter, was ordered to pay £1200 compensation for the clean-up and replacing a soiled mattresses.

In July, sentence was deferred to this week to give her more time to make payment.

But she never turned up for court and sheriff David Sutherland issued a warrant for her arrest.
