The first trade body representing thousands of bed and breakfast and guest house owners across Scotland has been launched.

The Scottish Bed & Breakfast Association (SBBA) was unveiled to 1,000 delegates attending the Guest Scotland conference for tourism accommodation and retail businesses.

Launching the SBBA at the conference in Edinburgh, Tourism Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “The small accommodation sector is a vital part of our tourism and hospitality industry.”

She said the new body will play a “crucial role in helping sector grow and to maintain its reputation as a key economic contributor to Scotland’s tourism industry.”

The Scottish Bed & Breakfast Association is a member of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, the umbrella organisation representing all of Scotland's tourism trade associations.

In 2014, over four million domestic and international visitors spent a bed night in B&Bs, right across Scotland.
