Steven Macdonald of Dalmore, Lewis, received a £650 fine of making threats to police officers when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

The 22-year-old previously pleaded guilty to threatening to torch their houses as well as shouting and swearing in October last year 2015.

Solicitor Luke O' Curry said Macdonald was under the influence of alcohol, "expressed umbrage of being detained by police and allowed his mouth to run away with him" while being taken to the police station.

Sheriff David Sutherland said Macdonald faced prison if he defaulted on any of the £50 weekly instalments.
