Cal Mac employee Sarah MacKillop has won the City of Glasgow College’s Nautical Cookery prize.

 

The budding chef - who works on the MV Isle of Lewis - received the trophy in recognition of producing the best practical work and top written exam results in her class.

 

The 25-year-old from Lewis, said: “I’m really proud to have won this award; it’s shown me what I can achieve with hard work.”

 

Ms MacKillop added: “I’m grateful to CalMac for supporting me throughout my college course and giving me the opportunity to learn and develop my skills.”

 

 

The presentation of the prize was part of the college’s annual School of Food, Hospitality and Tourism awards, hosted by Ryan James, the chairman of the Glasgow Restaurant Association.

 

Christine Roberts, Human Resources Director of CalMac, said: “It’s always fantastic to hear about our employees excelling. We look forward to seeing Sarah put what she’s learned into action.”

 

Willie McCurrach of City of Glasgow College, said: “All of today’s award winners deserve this recognition for the hard work and dedication they put into their courses.

 

“Through their chosen courses, our students gain real skills and experience to take into the workplace. I wish them all the very best of luck for the future.”
