Thundery downpours are forecast for the Western Isles for the first half of Sunday.

More persistent and, at times, heavy rain is expected to continue to beyond lunchtime in the Southern Isles.

There is a risk of possible surface water flooding.

Watercourses and rivers may also be affected by rainfall.

Rain will clear to give some warm sunshine but also very gusty winds, especially over the hills, from the afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to reach up 19°C.

Frank Saunders, Met Office Chief Operational Meteorologist, said people should expect a "disturbed spell of weather with the potential for some very heavy rain and strong, gusty winds at times."
