Hebrides News

A warning of thunderstorms and torrential rain for Scotland - including the Western Isles - has been issued by the Met Office.

The alert covers the period from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday evening.

Forecasters say frequent lightning, large hail and strong winds could be additional hazards.

Present forecasts indicate the worst impacts of the severe weather will bypass the Hebrides. However, heavy rain and clammy conditions are expected from late Tuesday through to breakfast time on Wednesday.

Islands roads may be affected by excess water and the risk of flash flooding in places.
