An islander who acted aggressively has appeared in court.

Neil Stuart Lawson of Doig Crescent, Stornoway, made threats to a 20-year-old islander as he walked along Bayhead in Stornoway on 5 May.

Later that evening, the youth was spotted in a supermarket by Lawson, 37, who shouted at him to “get out” followed by “I’ll kill him.”

The accused was acting aggressively as well as shouting and swearing. He jostled his victim and blocked his path the court was told.

Procurator fiscal Karen Smith explained there was a background to the hostility but Lawson’s “actions were still not justified.”

Sheriff David Sutherland sentenced him to 80 hours of unpaid community service work.
