An island teenager who committed a vast number of offences has lost her freedom.

Tanya Black was sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institution.

The 19-year-old of the Old House, Lewis Street, Stornoway, was previously convicted on a large raft of charges.

It includes a number of different incidents when she assaulted and threatened police officers, creating disturbances, assaulting emergency medical personnel, and rowdy behaviour.

She was previously sentenced to community payback orders and curfews for some offences.

But the teenager caused more trouble recently which saw her back in Stornoway Sheriff Court.

In August, Black smashed a cardiac monitor onto the floor, damaging the machine. She also made verbal threats of violence to medical staff and was shouting and swearing. She also verbally threatened police officers.

The month before she maliciously set off a fire alarm and flung a computer monitor to the ground at an address in Lewis Street, Stornoway. She also refused to be breath-tested by police.

In June she used threatening behaviour during an incident at her address where she persistently stood in the main road and kicked a vehicle. She also shouted and swore.

The court heard she shouted, swore and kicked a female ambulance worker attending an incident at Elizabeth Haldane Court, Stornoway, in May. She also resisted arrest and struggled with two police officers.
