Teenager in court over knife charge         6/10/14

A teenager accused of presenting a knife at a woman is to stand trial.

Sally Maclennan of 4 Bayhead Gardens, Stornoway, also faces two counts of police assault - allegedly trapping a constable’s hand in a van door as well as allegedly spitting in another officer’s face.

It is claimed she caused a disturbance at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway by screaming and throwing herself to the ground as people tried to use the hospital.

The 17-year-old is also charged with hindering hospital staff in addition to allegedly using threatening behaviour at the hospital.

Maclennan, who was already on bail, denied all charges when she appeared from custody at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Monday.

She was released on bail but is banned from drinking alcohol and must obey a 7pm to 7am nightly curfew. She is not allowed to go near her Stornoway address but must reside in Marvig, Lewis, as part of her bail requirements.
