Teenager fell unconscious after drinking            9/11/14

A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital in an unconscious state after a drinking session after an older teenager bought alcohol.

Stornoway Sheriff Court heard that Jessica Catterall went with a friend who was just under the legal age to purchase drink.

They had planned a “quiet night in” but some underagers turned up, said lawyer Katy Begg.

Her client “never thought of the consequences and regrets her actions,” she stressed.

Procurator fiscal David Teale said Catterall accepted money off a 17-year-old male to buy vodka, cider and beer from a Stornoway town centre shop.

They returned to an house in Lewis Street where one of the younger teenagers later became unconscious.

Jessica Catterall, 18, of 45 Cross Skigersta Road, Ness, Lewis, pleaded guilty to buying alcohol for an underager on 8 August.

Sheriff David Sutherland ordered her to be of good behaviour for the next six months and to make a personal appearance in court for sentencing in May.
