Islander accused of taxi office break-in    30/7/10

A Lewis man faces trial over an allegation of theft from a taxi office.

It is alleged that Aonghas Iain Smith of 13A Newton Street, Stornoway, broke into the premises used by Associated Taxis in the town’s Rig’s Road area.

The 31-year-old is accused of stealing about £370 and forcing open a safe to get the money.

Hon sheriff Roddie Mackay bailed Smith and set a trial date for the end of October.
