A complex of eight new flats for Tarbert has received planning permission.

Concerns over the design being out of keeping with neighbouring houses were debated at the comhairle’s planning board.

But the development was approved by councillors.

Hebridean Housing Partnership will demolish the old police station to build a two storey terrace of modern housing on the site.

Each flat will be two-bedroomed with air-source heating. Most will have a small kitchen and bathroom plus a combined living and dining room. Parking will be to the rear of the property.

The terrace - sited across from the new school - will have a single sloping roof.
