Stuck bus delays ferry 16/5/14
A tour coach from Devon got stuck on the car ramp while trying to drive off the MV Isle of Lewis after the ship arrived in Stornoway harbour at low tide.
The wheel of the bus was jammed by the angle of the ramp to the linkspan the ship was further below the port’s number one pier than usual.
Waiting for the tide to rise delayed the vessel by 88 minutes setting off on her return voyage to Ullapool on Wednesday afternoon.
Ferry operator Cal Mac said: “There was cosmetic damage to the bus and no damage to the ramp.”
The incident was attributed to the “vessel arrival coinciding with low water on a spring tide.”
