Strong winds are forecast to affect the Western Isles this week.

The rising wind will increase in strength on Monday night.

Severe gale conditions are expected for a short period at the peak of the bad weather.

A gale warning has been issued for mid-week when south westerly gusts of 50 to 60mph are expected.

Showers, then occasional rain or drizzle will accompany the high winds.

Ferry services are expected to be affected.

It is set to remain blustery on Thursday.
