Hebrides News

This afternoon’s lull in winds near the low centre of a low pressure weather system has been replaced by severe northwesterly gales as the centre moves away eastwards.

The Met Office said: “While these winds will not be as strong as the recent storms, the sudden increase in windspeeds could still lead to some problems.”

Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely for a time, perhaps up to 80 mph in the most exposed coastal locations and over high ground.

People should be aware of the risk of some disruption to travel and possibly to power supplies.

The worst of the conditions should pass by morning though it is forecast to remain blustery throughout Friday.
