Sex offender             20/7/12

A Lewis man has been placed on the sex offenders register after being convicted of having sexual contact with an underage girl.

After trial at Stornoway Sheriff Court today Ronald Badley Campbell was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity towards a female aged between 13 and 16 years by having physical and bodily contact with her. The offence occurred on 8 May.

Sheriff David Sutherland said the 23-year-old will be registered as a sex offender until sentencing which has been deferred for background reports to the end of August.

He was released to a Stornoway address until then on condition he keeps away and does not make contact with the girl. Neither is he allowed to be in the presence of children under 16 years of age without supervision.
