The Stornoway /Skye service could not operate today (Sat) due to the bad weather.

Ullapool harbour stepped in and cleared the decks to offer Cal Mac early use of the new vehicle linkspan for a special vehicle sailing to allow island travellers to get to their destination today.

For the last time, the MV Isle of Lewis will carry vehicles on the diversion timetable between Stornoway and Skye.

Freight ferry, MV Clipper Ranger, is due pick up haulage traffic in Ullapool on Monday morning for what may be her last voyage in the Western Isles.

From 7am Monday, the Loch Seaforth is to start three runs a day - including an overnight freight service - to Ullapool.

For the past month, vehicles could not use Ullapool harbour as the ageing linkspan was being replaced.
