Retired oil industry executive, Ian McCulloch, has joined the board of Stornoway Port Authority.

 

Born and brought up in Morayshire, Mr McCullochIan spends his time between Aberdeen and Shawbost, in the family home where his mother is from.

 

He spent a 35 year career in the offshore industry in a variety of locations around the world. During his career Ian undertook a wide variety of senior management roles including a broad mix of operations, commercial, engineering and decommissioning. He has skills developed across a wide range of business assignments in the UK, Dubai, Houston, Singapore, Jakarta and Algeria. Ian was UK Decommissioning Manager for Conocophillips UK immediately prior to his retirement.

Meanwhile, John Nicolson of Point, Lewis, has been appointed for a further three years on the board. He has been a co-opted member since November. Mr Nicolson - who sailed as captain with Blue Star and Weston Shipping - owned and operated the Stornoway prawn trawlers. He was one of the founding members of the Stornoway Fisherman’s Co-operative, serving as both chairman and general manager. Latterly, he was the boss of Young’s factory at Goat Island, Stornoway until his retirement in 2012.

 

Harbour board chairman Murdo Murray said: “Both Ian and John are highly experienced in their chosen fields and will give the board an added perspective of the oil and gas industry and the fishing and fish processing industry.

 

"We are delighted to welcome them to the board during a period when the board is developing its port masterplan, a plan for which both individuals will use their combined knowledge to advise the port.”
