The council is consulting over introducing extra parking restrictions to try and ease traffic congestion in Stornoway town centre.

The changes – including new markings, signs, posts and the removal of yellow lines – will cost around £2,000.

The council is seeking islanders' views before taking in a traffic regulation order.

Iain Mackinnon, director of technical services, said: "The reason for implementing this order is to improve the existing traffic management within Stornoway town centre.
