Good prices at Stornoway lamb sales 10/9/14
There were increased prices for store lambs and feeding sheep at Stornoway auction mart recently with 4,046 animals sold, according to auctioneers, Dingwall and Highland Marts.
A spokesman said: "With an improved show of lambs, all classes met a firm demand with the overall average showing an increase of £2.18 on the corresponding sale of last year."
Top prices
Cheviot lambs (694) averaged £43.99 and sold to £57 gross from 25 Garrabost, Point.
Texel cross lambs (229) averaged £48 and sold to £60.50 gross from 9A Ranish.
Suffolk cross lambs (828) averaged £46.57 and sold to £59.50 gross from 30 Gravir, South
Lochs.
Blackface lambs (1110) averaged £29.90 and sold to £49.00 gross from 7B Shader, Point.
Cross lambs (1089) averaged £38.71 and sold to £54 gross from 6 Habost, Lochs.
Feeding sheep (93) sold to £58.50 gross from 40 Crossbost, Lochs.
