Jail for man who terrorised victim       14/2/14

A Stornoway man who ordered another male to perform a sex act on him has been jailed for four years.

George Macaulay terrorised and assaulted his victim, Stornoway Sheriff Court had heard.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to the attack half way through a jury trial two weeks ago.

Macaulay of Flat 6, Old House, 4 Lewis Street, Stornoway, accepted he had injured his victim by repeatedly putting a lit cigarette against his body, hitting him on the head with a bottle, and ordering him to carry out a sex act.

Today, sheriff David Sutherland told him he would have been sent to the High Court in Edinburgh for a more severe prison sentence if he had been convicted after trial.
