Ward evacuated after wheelchair fire scare 4/1/12
Patients were evacuated from a ward in the Western Isles Hospital after a fire scare.
Two Stornoway fire crew was called to the incident yesterday.
Some 29 people were shifted into another ward in the hospital after staff smelt fumes.
Nurses set off a fire alarm and the fumes were traced to a motorised wheelchair belonging to a patient.
Firemen removed the electric wheelchair to the open air and ventilated the building.
